Delete your account & data
Last updated · 12 June 2026
This page explains how to delete your Dear Self account and what happens to your data. (Google Play requires a web page like this for any app with sign-in; it mirrors the in-app option.)
Delete from inside the app (fastest)
- Open Dear Self.
- Go to Account (tap your profile).
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
Your account is removed immediately.
Request deletion by email
If you can’t open the app, email abdullashai9@gmail.com from the address you signed up with, subject line “Delete my account”. We will delete your account within 30 days and confirm by reply.
What gets deleted
- Your account record: your email address and, if present, your name.
That is the entirety of what Dear Self stores about you on our servers.
What is NOT on our servers (and so isn’t ours to delete)
- Your journal pages, letters, and writing — these are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded. To remove them, delete them in the app or uninstall Dear Self, which clears the app’s local data from your device.
Retention
We keep your account data only until you delete your account, after which it is permanently removed. We keep no backups of your journal content because we never receive it.
