Reach us

Write to support@dear-self.org and a person will read it. In the app, Settings has a Send feedback row that opens your mail app, with your app version already in the subject, if one is set up.

Where your pages live

Your pages stay on this device. Dear Self has no account, so your pages are yours alone, and only a backup you made can bring them back.

Keeping them safe

In Settings, open Backup & restore and tap Save backup. It makes one encrypted file that you keep in your own cloud, such as iCloud or Drive. Choose a passphrase you will remember. It is the only key, and we never see it, so a backup cannot be opened without it.

Removing everything

To wipe Dear Self from this device, open Settings, tap your name at the top, then tap Erase everything on this device. You type a word to confirm, and every page, letter and habit is removed. This cannot be undone, so the Back up first button on that screen is worth a moment.

Uninstalling Dear Self also removes your pages from the device, and works as a fallback. Erasing in the app is the complete wipe. To delete a single letter, press and hold it in Letters forward.

The full picture is on Removing your data. How we treat your words is in the privacy policy.
